Matthew 11:25-30
"Jesus exclaimed, ‘I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

The Objection
"Why do Catholics pray to saints? They're dead. The Bible says there's one mediator between God and man, which is Jesus. Praying to saints is basically necromancy."
The Catholic Response
Catholics don't believe the saints are dead. Jesus himself settled this: 'He is not God of the dead but of the living' (Mark 12:27). When we ask saints to pray for us, we're doing exactly what Paul did when he asked fellow believers to intercede for him (Romans 15:30), except these believers happen to be alive in heaven rather than alive on earth. The 'one mediator' passage in 1 Timothy 2:5 is followed immediately by Paul asking Christians to pray for one another (1 Timothy 2:1), which means intercession doesn't compete with Christ's mediation; it flows from it. The Catechism teaches that the saints' intercession is their "most exalted service to God's plan" (CCC 2683).

"He will banish chariots from Ephraim and horses from Jerusalem; the bow of war will be banished. He will proclaim peace for the nations."
CCC 2304 & Pacem in Terris
Today's first reading doesn't describe a king who arrives boasting of military victories. He rides a donkey and banishes the weapons of war. The Catechism teaches that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but "the work of justice and the effect of charity" (CCC 2304), which means no nation can celebrate its greatness while glorifying its wars without a deep moral reckoning.

"That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body."
Theology of the Body (John Paul II)
The world's biggest celebrity wedding will generate endless content about the dress, the guest list, the venue. But John Paul II taught that marriage is an icon of Christ's love for the Church: total, faithful, fruitful, and free. The spectacle fades; the vow is the thing that matters when the arena lights go dark.

"The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a person took and sowed in a field. It is the smallest of all the seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of plants."
Laborem Exercens (John Paul II)
A garage, some books, and a strange name. Every great enterprise starts as a seed, which is exactly how Jesus described the Kingdom of God. John Paul II wrote in Laborem Exercens that human work participates in God's creative act, but the question is always whether growth serves people or devours them.

St. Anthony Mary Zaccaria
Zaccaria was a licensed medical doctor who abandoned his practice at age 26 to become a priest because he concluded that souls were sicker than bodies. He founded the Barnabites, one of the first religious orders of the Counter-Reformation, and was so zealous that Church authorities actually investigated him three times for excessive enthusiasm. He was cleared every time.
His feast falls on July 5, and his conviction that true healing comes from Christ echoes today's Gospel: 'Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and I will give you rest.'

Trivia Answer
B . In Matthew 21:2-3, Jesus gave oddly specific instructions: go to the village ahead, find a donkey tied with her colt, untie them, and if anyone objects, say 'The Lord needs them.' It's one of the few moments where Jesus essentially orchestrates his own stagecraft to fulfill Zechariah 9:9 in plain sight.
