"There is the sea, great and wide! It teems with countless beings, living things both small and great. There ships ply their course and Leviathan, whom you formed to play with."
Laudato Si' 68-69, Responsibility toward all creatures
Pope Francis wrote that every creature reflects something of God and has a message to give us (Laudato Si' 69). A community of strangers dropping everything to save a stranded whale is stewardship in action: not dominion as domination, but dominion as care for what God made and called good.
